Designer to Watch - MMM

MMM by BagInHand

Another way to build an impressive wardrobe at a discount is to invest in items from designers that push the bounds of cookie cutter trend and style. Another way to say it, a designer that makes strange stuff. A few well chosen pieces can give a wardrobe edge. And at markdown time, fringe designers get the deepest discounts to make sure the items move.

Watch out for Maison Martin Margiela. Available at eLuxury. Her are a few faves that will get hit with a deep discount during final sale clearance - probably at post Christmas final sale. And if you can make some of the more extreme pieces work, more fire!!!

Runway for sale...

Runway by BagInHand

THIS IS WHY WE WAIT!!! This is why we don't buy the disposable stuff at full price even though it's less. This is why we save that money and instead buy THE BEST designers on sale.

If owning a runway piece matters to you (and it should, or why bother buying into any trend?) then I repeat, this is why you wait. It's quality over quantity, and if you pick right, the quantity comes within a few seasons worth of disciplined selection.

Jean Paul Gaultier runway dress (this model looks god awful...) Black on bottom, color on top always flattering. Deep v-neck previews the goodies while also accentuating curves at the high waist. ($745 from $2,500)

Both shoes are Dolce and Gabbana, python. ($359 - $479 from $900 - $1,200)

I cheated - the top is Tracey Reese - runway, not on sale, but $300. Put it on the list to watch...

If you had bought 2 pairs of Aldo shoes instead of waiting, you would have already paid for these python D&G's. Eventually you will throw away the Aldo shoes, you will never through these away. If you had already bought 2 event dresses instead of waiting, you would have already paid for this showstopper that will only go up in value over the years.

OK, you get the point, I'll stop...

Red and black lumber jack, with the hat to match

Red and black by BagInHand

This is a pattern worth having in your closet. Three very different interpretations. Easy with black jeans, black leggings, black skirts, black boots. And you will pull this pattern out of your closet years from now and still shut it down!

Revolve Clothing for the
swing coat.
Rugby for the big collar cardigan.
Searle for the short sleeve jacket.

One is $90, one is $1,100 - can you guess which is which before checking them out? Soon, they'll all also be on sale. So add one to your list.
