Ba-bling!

OK, so it's hard to justify spending money on THINGS right now. But, if you are like me, and your job is on the more secure side, you have a savings that's not tied to the stock market, and you've made major cuts everywhere else in your life, the one place you may have no qualms on spending is on beautiful jewelry at the right price.

Here I've found beautiful men's watches on sale at Kohls, necklaces, rings and earings under $100 (actually, the starfish ring and turquois earings are under $50) from Banana Republic, and a cross ring from Intermix.

The best find: the real diamond band ring from Kohls on sale from $700 full price to $175 now!!!

A dress, a bag, a fitted leather jacket and that suburbs perfect tennis dress will get you compliments for the next 10 years as you wear these over and over and over again!

A girly girl

Girly shoes on sale at eLuxury.com. If you've been hording your recession dollars for months and need a pick me up, there's nothing like girly, frilly, pretty shoes on sale!

Future Now

eLuxury.com has taken early markdowns on designer duds. For the big guys, I advise you wait until the next round of markdowns. But is you can't wait, I would go with the futuristic styles seen here. There's nothing like a wardrobe piece that creates a double take during a recession - the future is now!

Black

I love UrbanOutfitters because they are always trend-right at the right price! I LOVE this faux leather pencil skirt - its half off and the faux material is environmentally conscious ;)

The key is to take what you find at Urban for much less than $100 and mix it with all the high end accessories, jackets, tops and shoes you've been buying at steep discount. I know what I'm wearing this weekend!

Even better!

Just a few things that are handy for the pending summer weather, and cheap enough to keep you smiling!

Obsessing again!

OK, I am obsessing over Anthropologie....here are some more great pieces that I like. The bag is only $98, the shoes $50, the knee pants 488. Two jumpers are some of the most understated and beautiful interpretations of the trend that I've seen so far. Buy now or watch for sale! Either way, I'm OBSESSED!!

E&J

I'm not going to lie, I love Elizabeth and James! Even though its made by the Olson twins and I am in general not into celebrity lines. These are some of my faves available at Bloomies, some already on sale! Watch for Bloomies to do special one-day coupons or email promotions and you'll be able to get a few of these looks for next to nothing since the line is already reasonably priced....such a breath of fresh air!

But they may not go as deep as fall did. These picks are already at a reasonable price for what they are, so even 50% off is a good deal...

When times are rough...

When you need to watch your spending, even when you only buy at markdown, you have to be that much more careful in what you buy and think about how many great wears you'll get out of it. Accessaries, by their very nature, give you a better return on investment. So expect to see more accessories posts from me in the next few months... And remember, these things aren't marked down yet, but they will be, and our strategy will be in place.

Spring (wardrobing) Has Sprung!

You may not be ready to start thinking about it, but spring apparel is in stores and soon all fall sale will be gone. Now is a good time to start strategizing about spring buys. It's still so cold that there's no risk of talking yourself into buying anything at full price. Plus, who can think about full price with all the discounts flooding everywhere?

Spring Inspiration
Spring Inspiration by BagInHand

Look at what's coming through the major fashion labels to figure out what your going to watch and what your going to use as inspiration to guide your other purchases. Plus, soon you'll be pulling out last year's buys that you either wore briefly, or not at all, and you'll want to compliment those key pieces or look to fill in the gaps.

If you don't remember, last year had alot of gladiator sandles, metalics, florals and boho chic. You can still wear all of that. All of these are still in. But look to round things out with the new themes of rocker/material girl, euro sexy and rich color.

My inspiration comes from Halston's butterfly cardigan dress, Phillip Lim's ruffled mini skirt and girly bow tie jacket, Micheal Kors neon blue rockstar dress, and Just Cavali's lolipop mini. All will be within reach at first markdown, or all of them have one attribute that you will be able to find somewhere else at a lower price.

If I were to splurge...

Happy New Year! If you were good this year, and held off on shopping until deep discount time, you were greatly rewarded. I will never forget seeing Saks.com with their 80% off post at the bottom of thier site...

I was very good, and with my birthday coming up at the end of this month, I would find that occassion enough for a splurge, and this is all I'd want ;) Shearling militart bomber, Slow and Steady everything canvas bag, and Atwood studded pumps.
